Choctaw Cty AL Buck
i talked to someone today that told me this is a real pic. they saw the deer after it was killed
this was sent to me via e-mail. i don't know if it is true are not but here it is. This deer was killed in Choctaw Cty, Al south of Hwy 84 about 15 west of Silas. It scored over 200 and has over 26 inside spread. It is a typical 14 point very rare and if it scores over 200, it may be a new state record for typical. ![]() |

Why gut them out at home when you can do ot in the woods? What would that hurt? I believe in cleaning my game asap ive seen meat get tainted rather quick like in MN much less AL think about it.

RE: Choctaw Cty AL Buck
I agree. I field dress all my game/fish ASAP. I think its much better for the meat.
Nice looking buck. So what about those fingers? |
RE: Choctaw Cty AL Buck
Im form that area and that deer was not killed in choctaw county.

RE: Choctaw Cty AL Buck
The only problem I have with gutting deer on scene ( and I would appreciate ya'lls comments and/or suggestions, good and bad) is because we have a HEAVY coyote problem & everyone I've talked to says if you gut your deer on your property esp. close to where you hunt that it will only attract and keep more yotes on your property so we take the remains off somewhere else. What do you guys think?
|
RE: Choctaw Cty AL Buck
if there is that much of a problem with coyotes i would gut them then hunt the gut piles. dead yote = no problem. just a thought.;)

RE: Choctaw Cty AL Buck
That is a huge deer, I have gutted some of my deer at home and some in the field, It just depends on how far away you live from the field. If I only live a couple miles away and it is almost dark then I take it home. That picture looks pretty real to me, I don't see any thing wrong with his fingers.

RE: Choctaw Cty AL Buck
Never thought about coyotes being the reason not to guy in the field. I guess if there were that many coyotes in the area I wouldn't worry about a simple gut pile. Sounds like you've got a coyote problem already.
I know a lot of people who hunt on thier own farms. When they have a deer down they just go get the tractor, truck or whatever and bring the deer to the house/barn to gut and hang. Don't think its to uncommon for people not to gut in the field. I always field dress the deer where I shoot it. Then again I've never worried about coyotes either! |
RE: Choctaw Cty AL Buck
alabama has a law about dumping the guts, alot of the land owners who lease their land don't allow the guts to be left every where,(most have a compost),and for the deer it looks real, except for the pic. was taken at night and by a hunter in street clothes
