I believe it was killed in Canada last year and then the guy was arrested for poaching.

The story as I understand it is the buck was killed just after hours in Ontario somewhere....the guy is the local game warden. At least that's the article as I remember it.

Went to the Canadian Wild life site and there was no mention of this deer being poached after shooting hours but then went to the local newspaper outside Ontario and found an article that said the animal was in fact harvested after shooting hours by a guy who had been tracking it all day-seems he will not be hunting again for a few years-unfortunately the news was incomplete about the animal-I don't know if this is even the right animal but it is all I found.

That buck was illegally taken last year in Canada and confinscated by the dnr. The pics taken were with dnr officials and not the poachers. There was a very long thread in the deer hunting forum last year about this buck.

If a buck that size passed by me after hunting hours I would almost have to take my chances. Dunno I could pass up a shot like that!!
