RE: arkansas hunters

I have hunted Hobbs, if it is low-pressure you are looking for then this aint the place for you. The bowhunting area is fairly low pressure but if you get a permit for gun or ml then you had better find your spot and be there around midnight to get it on opening day.

Madison Co. WMA is full of deer. I have only hunted it once several years ago. We drove out there one night, set up camp, and hunted the next day. I had never been there before. I set up my stand in the dark not knowing a thing about the area. 45 mins after daylight, I killed a nice 6 pt with my bow. For some reason I have never been back...

Good luck finding private land. I was lucky enough to meet a guy in college that his family owns 1600 acres just inside of Madison Co. Everyone has either died or moved away and I am the only one that hunts it more than once per year. There are four of us with keys to the land and we have vowed to only allow family to hunt there.

I was raised in NLR(Sherwood-when there was still woods in Pulaski cty...) My Dad got transfered to STL, MO and my folks still live there. I'm in San Diego now and envy everyone back in AR & MO because of the great hunting. I guess you don't know what you've got till it's gone.

I live in Lockesburg, close to Horatio and DeQueen. The only problem with Dickey Dunn is his unfortunate association with David Hibbs! I spent a large part of my youth on the losing side of baseball scores, due in large part to The Halter boys in Horatio.

I am an Arkansan and proud to be. I live in a small town (not really since we got a mickey d's) but we like to think of it as small. I live in sheridan, voted as the redneck capitol of Arkansas by Magic 105. And I must admit, I am one of them. oh, and titan312, I knew H.B.AR! I thought of him as a 'mentor' on here. ask him if he remembers a dude named 'bigfootbuck'.

Has anyone had any luck this bow season. I have not got to hunt much this season but going this Wed. if not raining to hard. I have not heard of to many deer being killed this year but this lower temp. might change that. Good luck.

Haven't had any luck yet P-Tone. I've been out twice and seen a total of 9 deer. Just couldn't get close enough to any of them. I'm headed out tomorrow too. It's felt good out there, hopefully it'll get the deer moving some.

Hey guys I am a native arkie hailing form the El Dorado area. Actually Junction City, well thats wheere I went to school. I lived in Caledonia. Bout as far south as you can go w/o getting into Louisiana. Wound up in OKC and just never left. Its not the piney woods and river bottoms but its alright. The football team is better anyway.

Hey is the Fouke monster still around? Is there a bowseason on him? Is it legal to take him?

Hey, size may not matter but it sure IS nice!

The Fouke Monster is probably still around, last I heard Smokey Crabtree was still alive and as long as he is still alive the Fouke Monster will live.

Sooner Hunter, do you know a guy name Scott Otwell? He lives on Caledonia Rd and graduated from Junction City. He is a pharmacist for Walgreens. I think everyone from that area has heard of Scott Otwell. He is one crazy person. I go down to Caledonia all the time to hunt with him. The deer are so thick down there that when times are hard in central AR, I just head down there and am nearly guaranteed a deer everytime. I have never seen so many deer on a consistent basis.

Very familar with Felsenthal!!! Best times of my life. First bowhunt ever was there and killed a big old 8 point. Took a lot of deer out of there.

Funny story I can tell cause the statute of limitations is expired. Back bout 85 a buddy of mine took me to Felsenthal to "teach me to duck hunt". This ol boy was purty much full of s*&% but I thought it would be fun. We shot the heck out of them and going back to the truck he was real tense. We got home he smiled and slapped me on the back and said, "man I was afraid we were gonna get caught."

"Caught at what?"

"All them ducks was squealers."

"Yeah?"

"The limit on squealers is one each!"

"How many we have?"

"Bout 12."

Never went hunting with Eddie McGhee again. Kansas might be alright but have no desire to visit Leavenworth!

Yeah the game wardens used to know Scott, his sister Helen Ann, and his Daddy Harold Otwell pretty well. Think the bunch contributed a few guns and dollars to the AR G&F albeit not voluntarily. They used to be bad to spotlight.

Now having said all that let me say Scott is a first cousin. Hope he turned out okay. Lord knows he bout had to raise himself. Momma/Daddy out driving trucks. Also had it tuf riding the bus when he was in high school. He got banged up a little. Good to make the acquaintance. Whats your name?

Hey Sosowingshooter, We used to have an english teacher name of phil robertson back at JCHS. he wasnt much of an english teacher but he sure did kill a lot of DUCKS!! Ever hear of him? Think he makes duck calls for a living now. Duck Commander or something like that?

Please tell me that you are lieing about Phil Robertson being your old english teacher. The jokes on me right? I know he played football at La Tech while Bradshaw was there, but never pictured him as an english teacher. If so, I am guessin that the hair was much shorter back then.

Nawsuh Soso. I ain't lyin! If'n awh haad me one um them scanner things I'd us cent yall one of them there pictures ov ole fil robson when him was sew kleaned up.

Seriously he was teaching my class when old Al Bolen came in to tell him Terry Bradshaw was drafted number one by the Pittsburgh Steelers. (you remember buffalo beat pittsburgh by a field goal the last game of the season?) Conversation:

Phil: "Terry Bradshaw? Number one? from L'il ole Louisiana Tech?"

Al: "Yep!"

Phil: "Well that dont happen too often does it?"

Al: "This is the first time a player was drafted 1st in the 1st round from a small college!"

Phil: "You know Terry didn't get to start til I quit playing football?"

Al: "Yep!"

Phil: "Huh!"

Phil: "You know the boy had a good arm but he wasn't too quick up here." (Phil taps his temple)

Al: "Well I guess he was smart enough to make the NFL."

Al leaves the room. Phil stares absently into an upper corner of the back wall.

Phil: "Guess the boy did awl rite. But I'll bet I killed more ducks this year than him." (Phil smiles.)

I saw Phil last bout 1985. Boy what a difference. Think by then he claimed to have clened up his maverick ways and was an itinerant preacher.

Sooner Hunter,I am actually a fan of Phil Robertson. I don't use his calls (RNT) but have almost all of the videos. I have always been impressed by his making reference to the Bible and his profession of Christianity. And, the man can flat out kill some ducks.

soso,

NO ONE who is sane would ever doubt that boy's ability to kill ducks. How many kids does he have now? Last I heard about 10. Said the Bible says to "be fruitful and multiply".

Hello RebelRanger,

I guess there's not a whole lot of people up here in the norhwest corner. They don't no what there missin do they. (Ashamed to admitt) but i've already missed two respectable bucks and let several walk this season. First miss hit a tree branch that jumped between a bucks vitals and my XX78, second miss, that evening different property, that illusion you get being in a treestand caused me to use my 30 yard pin instead of my 20 yard pin. Oh well I guess the hunt Gods were frowning on me that day. I'll makem proud tommorrow, I rarely miss with the trusty 7mm mag. To everyone fortunate enough to get to go opening day of rifle season good luck and shoot straight.

P.S. If you get a chance, take a kid to the woods. The'll
thank you for it later, I know I do.
