Oklahoma Muzzleloader

I am hunting ML for the first time this year in Weatherford. What are some tips that you guys and gals can give me for hunting this time of year. Should I use any scent drags, rattle? I am hunting some trails that funnel into feed and hope to harvest a nice buck that I spotted during rifle last year. Thanks.

Hickman I am just about 30 miles east of you near Calumet. Anyway, ML season is a perfect time for all calls and lures. Pre rut activity usually kicks in real well about that time in Oklahoma. I don't think you can go wrong with being a little aggreessive during that time of year. Better get ready, it will be here before we know it!!

hickman I'm down the road at Duncan. I agree with MILLERTIME ML season is really the turnon for good deer hunts. I've hunted north around Woodward and down here and find some early rut activity. Got a big 8 pt. on the wall from 2 years ago ML season, he was chasing does and real agressive. I find light rattling to work real well during this time of year, mature bucks are starting to feel their oats and establishing territories. A doe bleat works well too. Good luck, keep us posted on how ya do.

Maybe so, my grandpa is Franklin Miller, he lives right on the North river just 2 or 3 miles northeast of Calumet.

Ya it did, but I forgot the password and lost my AOL account that the site sends it to so I had to change my name.

Hickman, good luck and hope you enjoy muzzleloading season. It is a great time to
be out in the woods. Like everyone said above, the deer are really getting active during this time and don't be afraid to try all the stuff you mentioned. I hunt up around Woodward and down by Altus and have been seeing alot of deer so far during bow season. Carey

Few more days Hickman, did you get everything you needed for this weekend? I am pumped, we get out of school here at UCO for fall break this week, so I will be bow hunting Thurs. & Fri. then hunting ML this weekend. Should be a good week!!!

ML is getting close. I made the mistake of procrastinating about getting my powder. Man, every store I went to was out of almost everything muzzleloading.

I can't wait! I can barely concentrate at work!
