Could some one give me advise on what gun would be ok for hogs in east Texas

From the hogs I have seen on my lease anything from a 243 and up will get the job done.

What part of E Tx are ya my lease is in the Gilmer area

I like a 30/30. Nice big bullet for an animal that doesn't require a long shot. But like Ausie-guy said, a .243 on up will work fine.

as long as you shoot behind the ear you will be successful with about any big cal rifle.all depends on the terrain also.hunting steep canyons you may chhose to use a larger caliber. this to stop them from going over the edge.i hunt swampy areas and use a 7mag.this stops them from going too far into the swamps.on flatter land with less cover you can rest easier without the above worries.

I use a .357 Browning level action for close in stuff, like when I want to crawl right up on them and use my .260 or .270 for the longer shots.

No ones walked off yet.
