i seen some rubs while i was scouting and i am not sure how old they were.

when do the deer start to rub on trees?

If you saw them recently, they are definitely from last year or older. Deer won't start rubbing until after their velvet is shed which starts in early September for most of the state. I went hunting in Williamsburg Co last weekend and they still had velvet. They really don't start rubbing good until October.
