Rut in East Texas

I am hunting a new lease in deep East Texas and was wondering when the rut typically occurs in this area? We have been seeing a LOT of scrapes over the past 2 weeks.

Mike, it depends on how deep in East Texas. When I hunted near Beaumont, it was normally later in the season. But if the weather turner cooler sooner than it moved it up.

I hunt about 20 miles SE of Carthage. We are basically right on the La. line.

I use to work in Center so I know the area. The rut there will be earlier than deep SETX. If you are seeing rubs and it could be later this month.

Mike it should be hot right NOW! With this cool weather that just blew into the area, they should be moving. Are you in Joaquin? I hunt in Center and Shelbyville. I bet we have passed each other on the road somewhere around there. GOOD LUCK.
