What is the smallest acreage to hunt small game?

Greetings everyone,

Just looking for some thoughts on what the smallest plot of land you would consider hunting small game on with .22 rifles? I have access to 25 acres surrounded by many hundreds of acres with low to no population. I just want to take my son and a buddy out to hunt rabbits and squirrels. No shooting up into trees, all "on ground" shots.

.410 is an option and an excuse to buy another gun : ) but right now they have .22 Crickets.

Thanks!

I see no problem using 22s in your scenario. Just know where everyone is at all times and where you're shooting to be safe since you can't call one back.

Remember, .22s will ricchotte if they hit the ground at the right angle, then you don't know where they will go.

Thanks for the input guys. Safety is certainly the first consideration and why I sought input from this forum. Always helpful. We know the plot well and where everything and everyone is. I didn't think it would be an issue, but we are just beginner hunters here. Lots of firearm experience, but new to hunting.

Thanks again!

Gary
