Last week I witnessed all kinds of rutting activity upon a piece of ground I hunt within Fairfax County. Lots of chasing, following and breeding. Saw a big 8pt mount a receptive doe, just out of range. 45 seconds later on the same path a big 6 with split brow tines was soon to follow. This week I haven't seen any chasing or following. The rut has slowed down substantially.

At my hunt club in Culpeper, we have taken 4 really nice bucks with the assistance of dogs. The bucks are close to and in most cases following a doe.
