Just went out this afternoon in NWA-its like acorn heaven up here and I saw quite a few scrapes. Got over 5 acres of woods in my backyard so I put out some scent just to get a lil preview of what we got out there, already saw 3 fat does and a nice rack. :D

They' re scraping big time here in southern Baxter Co. west of the White River! Set up this weekend on a huge trail with 6-7 large scraps spread out about 70 yards from end to end of ' em. Come opening day of ML season I hope to catch the the maker of those scraps as he stops under the overhanging cedars 50 yards from my stand!

What' s up fellas ? man oh man just finished up a 7 day break from work and got to bowhunt almost all of it, did not get a shot, courtesy of a full moon and a couple of stray dogs that came by just at the wrong time, however I must say the deer sign in my area is unbeliveable.....I could not get over how much buck sign there is man every where I scouted was covered up with Rubs and Scrapes!!!!plenty of acorns so it was hard to manipulate the deer into range, although I did see 5 deer one morning (2 spikes, 2 button bucks, and a doe) you guys in arkansas know the only shooter in that bunch was a doe and she never would give me a shot!.......got to work this weekend and it' s opening of muzzeloader season.....that' s killing me I hope a few bucks survive for me to chase next week......outlook in the river valley looks great... deer sign is plentyfull.....good luck to all !!!!!

Glad to see things look good this year. I' m not making my up to your neck of the woods until early gun season.

I took a nice big bodied 8 point last year. He' s the only shooter I saw. I didn' t have a doe tag but was lucky enough to draw one for this year.

WHOOOOO HOOOOOOO! Only an hour left here at the office before I leave for camp and opening day of front-stuffer tomorrow. Thanks for the info about the buck sign up near Russellville. I hunt within 45 miles of there, so hopefully that bodes well for us. I' ll know in about 3 hours. You all take care and have a great smokepole weekend.

Arkansas report

Well, went out to our place in Conway county (Arkansas) for Front Stuffer season this past weekend and boy was there a lot of buck sign. The most we' ve ever seen. In just the one section of the property we hunted we counted seven big, fresh, new scrapes that had been started along an old logging road...and these were just the ones we found out in the open...no telling how many more are in secluded areas...lots of rubbing started now, as well. We also saw more bucks than we ever have during muzzleloader season....2 eight points and 1 larger, maybe a 10 point but definately a much larger rack than the others, that my cousin missed. We searched every leaf and blade of grass for several yards around the spot where the buck was standing when he shot, but we did not find even a spec of blood. Also did line searches back and forth across the path the buck took as it fled for a couple hundred yards...still no blood. He flat missed. Now he' s in a deep depression funk over it.
