If any of you all see a blue GMC truck with a JESUS license plate..stop me to say hi..I'm usually the first at Rockridge gate..so far every time except once....when I hunt. My back window has a decal of the state of Fl with a buck head and on the left side a green largemouth bass...my spot is a long scary walk..water water water....and rough walking..I got lost 3 times..very sad///
I'm sure you'll see me during small game..I plan to be there every Sat.

It would be nice if this place was more hunter friendly as far as trails. I've been to several spots that are a LOONNNNGGGG way from the parking area and my first thoughts are how would I ever get something outta here if I got something. Not to mention it's a lot of work to scout this place when the gates aren't open. Those things and more prescribed burns would help the harvest ratios. Another thing is people do a lot of walking in there, even way back in spots. That pressures deer and makes it that much harder for those who chose to scout and set up on one.

One day I was hunting on Tanic..way out there on Tanic..I closed the door and my keys were on the seat }--; BUMMER..It started raining..I thought I had a spare key on the truck..I looked , it wasn't there..as a Christian we don't panic easy..I'm like OK Lord..what are we going to do. I wasn't going to break my glass to get those keys and it was in the middle of the week..and raining..no hunters would be driving by. Rifle and gear getting nice and wet..and me too. I THOUGHT look for that key again..I could have sworn I hid one...I do this to all our vehicles as soon as I purchase one..I looked..and looked and THERE it was..I didn't slide the case open..LOL I busted it opened..shakingly I hurried to make sure it would work..and it did.LOL If you ever need me guys CALL..I call my son. If your lost, game is too fat or truck broke down..I have AAA IF my son would not have came the last time..I would have been in deep trouble..I was exasperated...deer cart in truck...and lost extremely frustrated and dragging a 135 pound deer over palmetto roots..NOT FUN.

PS another time I was with another guy..truck running and locked the door, OUCH ..I gave him a tank of gas to drive me home to get my spare key..this is where I started caring a spare key.Live and learn...I was way out there on POWDER GRade
FOLKS..I plan to take a break off the net..I do this occasionally as needed..c ya when I get back...plan to get on once a week..on Saturdays..

Putting miles in.
My idea of hunting at GS is more swamp stompin right now while I learn feeding areas and bedding areas.
I have a summit, I have a ladder stand set up. But I see more game tromping around.
I was lucky enough to help the deer and turkey population by harvesting a bobcat yesterday.
Was about 4.5 miles into my hike and came around a cypress dome and I could down a fire road a cat sitting looking at me.
First thought house cat, coyote, then bobcat and in about that time it turns 180 and is running down the road.
I raise my rifle and spot a 2nd bigger cat running beside the first I didn't see before. While tracking in my scope I squeeze off a shot and see the bigger cat pile up about 10 ft back.
Paced to 75-80 yards and I'm glad I had the rifle in my hands not my shotgun. Didn't think it was that far but it all happened in about 3 seconds.
I usually carry the shotgun, with rifle on my back in padded case.
