2011 VA archery thread
Anyone else pumped about the regular archery opener on Saturday October 1?
With all this rain we have been getting in NoVA, I am wondering if it will affect deer movement. I would think with nearly two or three weeks of gloom and rain, a nice cool sunny day in early October will have a lot of deer movement. I was planning to go out this weekend and hang another stand and do some longer range practicing, but it is supposed to rain all weekend again. I may go anyway. |
I'm pumped!!! Waiting for the rain to stop so I can hang the last of my stands as well. I think this weather will get them up and moving on opening day/week.
Man I can't wait either! Taking my nephew out tomorrow for youth day. Should be fun but I can't wait to sit in a tree with my bow next Saturday!
I too am getting itchy to get in the woods. Unfortunately I will not be able to hunt Sat Oct. 1st, but will be in a tree the 4th!!!
I will be in a tree with my bow 174 hours from now.
I've been sitting over bucks twice during the early urban archery season. Sure hope they don't disappear on Saturday.
Can wait temp. is going to be in the mid 50's
Notredame, did you mean can't wait?
The temp in my area is supposed to be a high around 70. Wish is would be cooler. |
Yes, Sorry. Cant wait.
Looks like there may be a cold snap on opening day - high of 60
I heard we should expect winds all day in the 30mph range too.... :-(
I am super pumped! Watching youtube hunting everyday getting myself ready. I don't know how the deer will be affected by all the rain we have had but I can tell you that the friggin mosquitos are deadly! They have been crazy with all this moisture! My thermacell will be cranking on saturday.
Good luck to everyone. |
High of 57 degrees with a chance of rain after 2pm on Saturday.
The temperature is going to drop around 20 degrees between Friday and Saturday morning. |
Ya but it looks like the winds will be WNW at about 15 which is a lot better than 30!
I am pumped that I am one wake up away from hunting deer again! I was checking my deer stands two weekends ago and glad that I did. I dont know if it was the winds from Irene or what, but my ratchet straps on two ladder stands had snapped off the tree. I brought some more last saturday and made them safe again. On my favorite stand has been a bunch of coon crap and it looks to be a good sized one! I am going to have to kick his butt out of that stand tomorrow morning, LOL. The acorns are not as thick this year and the soybeans are looking really good, so hopefully the deer will be feeding hard in the moring. Especially with no rain and cool weather. Good luck to everyone.......
