RE: College Football
Hey Schemy!! How many of you 'horns fans are rooting for OU this weekend?? You know, if KSU beats OU, that knocks Texas out of a BCS bowl game. Then you'd have to play in the buffalo chip bowl or something like that.

RE: College Football
WOW, I'm in shock and morning. Kansas State is playing ball, and OU sucks tonight. They don't deserve to play in any bowl. I hope they don't. I'd rather see KSU and Texas get the good bowls after this game.
Congrats to KSU, LSU, and USC. |

Seriously, I'm shocked that OU lost, even when a team seems unbeatable, they never are... KSU beat em good, played a good game... Now that it's gonna be OU, USC, or LSU in the Sugar Bowl...I'm pullin for LSU, I hope they get a bid. I'd love to see the Nat. Championship back in the SEC...even though I'm a Razorback, and even though LSU railed upon us last week...lol. Great NCAA season this year, one to never forget, that's for sure! |
RE: College Football
Well, it's OU #1 in the BCS, LSU #2, and USC #3. I'm not sure they still deserve it but it looks like the Sooners will be playing LSU for the title. I hope they show up this time.

RE: College Football
Wow!!!!!!!! LSU TIGERS and the Sugar Bowl go together like Bow and Arrows.
To bad it's not LSU the SEC champs vs USC the PAC 10 champs. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TIGERS ![]() |
RE: College Football
I am still shocked on how bad OU looked! Everyone said that they were unbeatable. They are still a very good team. LSU took care of business and the BCS God's look fondly on us. Only two teams can play in the Sugar and three teams deserve it. I feel bad for USC because they are a very good team, but it feels dam sweet going back to the Sugar after a loooong wait. I think they might be tad more LSU fans than OU fans in the superdome. Givem hell bayou Tigers!!!

RE: College Football
This is not a flame or anything but, the quote Les Miles stated before the bedlam game "their the best college football team in the nation---so were told" kinda has lived out to be true. GO POKES Cotton Bowl Bound.
|
RE: College Football
How do you figure that lived out to be true?? OU dominated teams all season long. OU lost it's "one" game after every other team in Division 1A lost their's. They played bad, no doubt. Don't know if distractions of Stoops and all the media hype had anything to do with it or not, but they still lost. Does that make them any thing less than the best in the country? They were so far ahead in the BCS that they are STILL #1. OU and LSU both lost to ranked teams. USC lost to an unranked team. OU and LSU both have similar schedule strengths. USC had a bad one. Notre Dame and Hawaii both needed to win for them to be in the Sugar Bowl. Neither did. A fact that shows USC's schedule strength wasn't there.
And before you start quoting Les Miles, remember what happened immediately thereafter! |
RE: College Football
Didn't Stoops say in a ESPN article that a team shouldn't compete for the National Championship if they did not win Conf. Champ. I believe he was putting a little dig on Nebraska when they played in the Champ. game and they didn't even win the big 12 north.
He also said that OU plays to win Championships. They did not look like they played to win diddly squat Sat. I you will go back and read this thread again I said from the begining that anybody can loose any time and all you could say is 8 national Championships. Well if OU does win the sugar bowl it will be a sour victory in my book as I dont think they should be in the game in the first place. USC is getting hosed. Who says that OU is the best team in the Nation. The coaches and sports writers say that USC is the best team and have ranked them #1 in their respective polls. The reason OU is playing in the sugar bowl is their bcs score is lowest and it got that way by running up the score on teams like Texas and my OSU Cowboys . Its called "margine of victory". Which plays a big part in the BCS formula. Just my 2 cents which is about what is it worth. |
RE: College Football
Now see, You're not paying attention again. Stoops never said that about winning a conference title in order to play for the big one. He said it's not right that two conferences (the SEC and the Big 12) have a conference title game when all the others don't, and that the outcome of that extra game is taken into consideration in the polls. His words were prophecy. Either get rid of that game so it doesn't matter one way or the other, or make everyone do it. If OU had won that game, people would be complaining that they had an extra opportunity to impress the computers and writers that USC didn't have.
USC is 11-1, losing to an unranked team. OU is 12-1 and lost to a ranked team. So USC plays one game less than OU, and loses to an unranked team, and since it was early enough in the season, that's a good reason to forget about it and to rank them number 1? That's the beauty of the BCS computers. It looks at the entire season. It's not biased like the sports writers that only remember that OU lost in a big game to a good football team. These are the same sports writers that had OU #1 since before the season began. They are the same sports writers that have moved teams around like a monopoly board this year. They've had USC in positions that most people (including most of the commentators) disagreed with all year long. Why doesn't the fact that USC doesn't have a conference title game weight into those writers decisions? Not only that, but there isn't a team in the PAC10 that's worth a darn and could even give USC a good game. Maybe if there were, and if USC played them and beat them for the title, then they'd be justified in putting them #1. In fact, it was the loss on December 6th by Hawaii and Notre Dame (two opponents that USC beat) that hurt their chances of being in the big one ahead of LSU. Is USC the best team in the country? Or did they just play a bunch of nobodies? I'm sure you still feel that Texas and OSU are both good teams. And look at what OU did to them. Margin of victory is NOT part of the BCS and hasn't been a part of the BCS since last year or the year before. Running up the score?? Maybe OSU and Texas weren't very good after all. It's up to the team on the field to stop the other from scoring. Neither did a very good job did they? Did you run up the score against Tech? If I remember right OSU was up by a bunch at halftime. Good thing you did, the way Tech came back or OSU would have had their 4th loss of the season. OU was so far ahead of everyone else, that the loss didn't hurt them in the computers. Is that their fault? And everyone, and I do mean everyone, was talking three weeks ago that OU could lose the Big 12 title and still wind up #1 or #2 in the BCS. Why wasn't there such a fuss back then about it? Not one negative comment (except from Lee Corso, who bashed OU all season in 2000, until we won the title) came from any announcer about that until after OU actually did lose. I think two things are going to be proven come bowl time. One is that USC is overrated and Michigan is going to win the Rose Bowl. And two, that win by Michigan will vindicate the BCS computers and show, once and for all, that the two best teams in the country are playing for the National Championship. |
