Seeking help in getting started in Waterfowl Hunting

I was sitting in a tree stand yesterday, waiting for a deer to walk by. From the stand, I could see geese and duck come and go and hear the waterfowl hunters shotgun blast. I thought to myself, maybe I should venture into bird hunting. Any advice on getting started? I am in the Northern Virginia Area.

1st suggestion, be careful, it's ADDICTING! 2nd suggestion - find or lease private land to hunt. We've all hunted public land before and rarely is it as good as private property. Since so much of the land is leased up our way, your best bet is to join a club/lease that has corn fields, flooded timber, ponds, etc. There's a lot of bird activity in Loudoun & Fauquier Counties if that helps, plus they're real close-by!

I've never actually hunted ducks or geese before, but in my time hunting other game on Phelps WMA in Fauqier, I have seen/heard a lot of geese activity. Hope this helps

Thanks guys.

Coolbrze0 - Any recommendations on clubs in the area? Close-by is good.
