Anyone live near Knoxville, Tennesse?

I may have a job near the Knoxville, Tennessee area. I currently live in Montana. What is it like living in this area? What do you hunt and fish for? Can a person hunt on public ground do you need to lease hunting ground or belong to a hunt club???
How about the fishing, what do you fish for? I fly fish for trout in the local rivers where I live. Can a person fly fish for trout in the Tennessee, River Valley?
Camping? I have a 1-ton pickup and camper, I use it in the summer and early fall in Montana and Wyoming. Do people have areas to camp in south east Tennessee, or do people even camp in the south???

Sorry for the dumb questions, I have never traveled farther south or east than St.Louis, Missouri.

Im originally from Cleveland, TN. About an hour south of Knoxville.

There are plenty of places to camp, so dont worry about that. As far as trout fishing, I only know of a couple places i would always go up on the Hiawasee river. The trout were mostly stocked weekly during the spring and summer, but it was still fun. I believe the Smoky's offer a few trout streams, but you'll have to look them up.

Deer hunting is not bad. There is a lot of public hunting in TN, just google it and you will find all kinds of stuff. Im sure you can get on a lease if you want too. Might be a better option. The deer are getting bigger all over the state the last few years, not like the mid-west, but there are plentyof them. A ton of turkeys also in recent years according to my friends that still live there.

You won't be too far from Gatlinburg, and the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Always nice to go to, just try and avoid the peak tourist season, gets a little crowded.

Oh, and the black bear population has exploded in the park in recent years.

So, you should have enough to keep you busy. Let me know if you have any more questions,

Forgot to mention one thing. I hope you like high humidity, cause your going to get it along with 90 degree weather in the summer.

I never really noticed it until I moved away and came home the first time after boot camp. Besides that, its a pretty nice area.

SGT.H,

Thank you for the information. I would most likely live near Mascot, Tennessee. I will google search local attractions and housing prices.
