Any Central Texas hunters out there?

I' m new to the site and I was curious to see if there are any folks out there who hunt in Central Texas. I recently got on a deer lease in Hamilton County just outside Evant. Anyone got any experience in this area?

i hunt just outside of brady in a small town, placid. very dry and lots of cactus. you are hunting in a good area. it is like anywhere else, you have to have the cover and food for the deer to be there.

Great!
Do any of you have any recomendations for fall food plots? I planted some oats at my lease in Evant last year and the deer loved them. This year I wanted to plant other plots besides the oats. Just curious to see if there were any other food plots out there that might grow well in this area. Thanks!

Up until this year I was hunting a lease just outside Evant near Izoro. I am simply amazed at the deer population around there. Unfortunately, the head guy at the lease I was on was a real jacka$$ and wasn' t too thrilled that I was a hunter who was looking to tag out and really hunt so I was asked to leave. [:' (] Best deer lease I have ever been on. They all wanted to go sit in their box blinds and overlook their feeder and shoot the first buck that came along. Most of them would never even take a doe, so the population was quite skewed. I at least got me a real nice 10 point before having to leave. I was also doing my part to take care of the doe population as well.

In regards to your question, I think oats are the number one fall attractant. I have seen the deer pass up clover and such to get to the oats in seasons past.
