coyote hunting in central VA?
I' ve never been coyote hunting in my life, but recently some old fella told me the coyote was becoming a problem in central/southside virginia. Can anyone tell me how to hunt them, where to go in VA, etc. I' ve been deer hunting here for several years & have never seen a coyote?? Is the old guy nuts?

RE: coyote hunting in central VA?
Nope not nuts. Va has a pretty good yote population going. Actually Tazwell county had at one time (not sure about now) the highest yote population east of the Mississippi. I' m still a rookie myself but know of a good page with a ton of information to help you out....
http://wcp-nm.com/coyotes/ Bill has put a lot of work into this page and it will help you. Even though he lives out west the principals are the same. Good luck to ya' . |
RE: coyote hunting in central VA?
Up here in western N.Y., we use hound' s walker' s, bluetick, redbone, plott, trained
just for yote' s, and it' s just like a yankee version of deer hound huntin, and we get them somtimes 50 to 65 pound male' s, when a 60 pound male stop' s and make' s a stand, he can really put a woppin on the hound' s if you dont get there real fast,:D northern yote' s are much bigger bone structure then southern and western yote' s, they are killin machine' s for deer and turkey, so i dont mind one bit dumping one when I get the chance |
