NC Hunting
 

Has anyone else in south eastern NC experienced deer not moving very much the past few days since rifle season started? I have a box stand in the back field and and camera over corn but none will come out in the morning or evening just a few at night. I do know there is a huge acorn crop this year and there is a creek/swamp area that runs beside and the length of the field. I also have a clover/alfalfa plot next to the creek and have only seen a few deer in it in the morning and around 7:00pm which is dark. Any ideas.

Just wait for some cool weather. I know here in SC the warm weather slows movement a lot then when a cold front moves in they walk a lot better. You also might could set up closer to the bedding areas. Good luck.

Well I checked my camera and corn pile Sunday to see what had been in the area the past week and to my shock, hardly any deer. The deer have really dropped off in the past week or so. I just don't get it, last year they're were a bunch of deer in the same area and several scrapes. This year nothing, makes me sick!!! The first week of the season there were deer moving mostly at night on my camera but they have about stopped that too. Looks like the up coming hunt on Camp Lejenue might be my best chance for a buck or any deer for that matter.

we have a good acorn grop here in gaston co, deer arent moving a whole heck of allot eather. it has got to get cooler sometime!

not seeing anything during shooting hours in the piedmont but getting more than 100 pictures a night between 11pm and 3 am
darn if they havent been smart so far.
