Arkansas new bag limit

I saw in the paper this weekend that they have set the new bag limits for the next season. 2 Bucks, 1 doe. 3 pnt.rule applies. I guess ya' ll are slaughtering to many slick heads. Shame on you, on me too.[:' (]

I like the new rule. I really beleive we' ve been takin too many does.
4 doe per person was rediculos.

but, I thought they were goin to cut the bag limit down to 3 deer. a buck
and 2 doe, or 2 buck and a doe.

I am not even going to get fired up about this. my hunting club has to many does and we are to blame for not taking more. oh well i guess i' ll get used to seeing a hundred plus does a day instead of fifty!

I will say some parts of the state need this while others didnt.
i am also not happy with the new season dates. they kept the southern parts open for a long season and broke other parts up. this means i' ll running off folks from my areas trying to find state land!

Game& Fish is so stupid......Why do they pay for a boilogist(sp?) that they dont use????? When all it takes is a couple of phone calls from the guys that just step out of the truck and cant find deer.....The state doesnt even have a clue of how many deer in a given county let alone the whole state....Just when we were seeing some results now they screwed that up.....Guess I will go from 20 doe' s a day to 60 now......Thanks Game & Fish you sure got your head in QDM...

I agree there are some parts that still need to kill more doe, but most of our club members took advantage of the 4 doe per person rule. we need to slack up a bit on the doe kills. ;)

We have just a little over 500 acres...Three people we killed three deer ...They were all doe' s....Didnt shoot any buck' s...Why because they were not any meeting the 3 point rule....We could have shoot more doe' s but we all had meat in the freezer...Now G&F say' s we killed to many....Thats crazy....So now we go back to hammering buck' s...We still have a doe problem..To many of them...We you can drive around at night and shine your headlights in the feilds and see has many has we do compared to bucks then you would know what a joke this is...

hawgs i agree with you as you probably all ready know. it doesnt really mean that much change for me i can still put six in the freezer between me and my son. thats what i put in last year . i only took two he took four . and two of them were legal bucks. ( he' s only 12:D)
what it might do IMO is either make the harvest far less than years past or cause folks to not report kills.
with the three point rule it means not just any buck is legal so either folks pass or kill and not report.
some folks may kill a doe and not see a legal deer all season. and then on the last days take another doe . no reporting.
who knows?

I think in a few years arkansas will be increasing harvest limits to five or six to try and control the population explosion they caused. think 1 deer can be 3 in a year!
doesnt take long to get way out of control.
lets say hunters go to the woods this year and don' t get a chance to take a deer. how many will be lost the next year to golf?
and the next?

I don' t know i just think it will interesting to see how this all pans out.

Iagree soarkrebel.....Why dont G&F just let the guy' s that get paid make the rules...Not the high dollar guys that only hunt a week or two out of the year....It is going to be harder(BTW till your son great job) to get younger hunter' s interested in hunting....No son you have to let her walk..No son that one' s not BIG enough ( or daughter.:D ) Getting crazy here in AR...Think I will start giving my money to another state....[:@]

Hawgz problem is other states have it also. QDMA!!!
It' s all about folks wanting bigger deer. large racks! well look what happens when someone kills a really big deer. the land in the area get high priced or you can' t hunt cause of so many folks trying to get that big deer.

Then the big money boys come in run you off and sell hunts to yuppies . build a big " lodge" where your old memory filled camp was . look at south texas! canada, kansas.
you know in europe hunting was only for the rich is it going to be that way in our country soon?

well, I know some people are meat hunters, and would just as soon shoot a spike as a 6 point. I have nothin against these hunters. and I think there are some WMA and NWR that don' t have the 3 point rule. I know felsenthall didn' t have it till last year, then it went into affect. I like the three point rule myself. we have 1200 acres leased, and now, with the 1 doe limit, and the 3 point rule, maybe we can finally get some decent bucks on our lease. I don' t gun hunt anymore, I strictly bowhunt. now if I can just get these gunhunters to quit shootin at these deer at 300 yds thinkin it' s a doe, then when they get to it, realize it' s a 3 or 4 point .[:@]
we have some of the trigger happiest hunters in ar.[:' (]
don' t get me wrong, I love the meat to. but I usually get a doe perty early, then I' ll usually get a shot at a nice buck durin the pre rut and rut, so me and the wife can make it on 2 or 3 deer.;)

I can only comment on the parts of the state that I deer hunt in......N.E. (Greene co.) and S.E. (Drew co.) I see a great deal more does than bucks in these regions and know several hunters besides myself that filled their tags last season, so It' s hard for me to understand the complaints of some hunters that they are not seeing deer like the years before. I guess it' s true about the squeeky wheel getting the grease. The A.G. & F. Comm. seems to have heard them. It also seems that if fewer deer were harvested this past season, that would mean more deer survived to breed and have offspring. Like soarkrebel said, we may have more liberal bag limits in the future as a result, but I think the changes should have been made to the regions affected and not the entire state. This is just my opinion of course and I' m sure AG&F have researched this more than me.

I am glad they cut back on the ole slicks, however I realize some ares need to be able to harvest does, but in the river valley it has realy been hurtin us. just seeing deer has been tough, but I still managed to get a nice 8 point with my bow, so I do like the 3 pt rule my average buck since in place has been a young 8 pointer and I' ll take that any day.
