Changes for season dates in Florida
The fl gfc is thinking of changing the starting dates for all of Florida. You can go to the fl gfc.com website and look at the proposed changes and submit comments on this is you would like to do so. One of the changes in the central zone will push muzzleloading season back 2 weeks and start the general gun season during what is now blackpowder season. That will put the opener of general gun right dead smack in the chase phase of the rut. There will be a huge numbers of bucks killed if this goes through. I am for it myself it would allow me to start bow hunting on September 6th instead of the end of the month. Another benefit I see is that it would reduce the amount of bucks that get killed which have already shed one side of the antlers.

I can't wait to see what they come up with.Looks like zone 5 will start late and general gun will be when I used to BP hunt, right during the rut.

it would also make our entire hunting season in 95-105 degree weather since the season would end before Christmas.

RE: Changes for season dates in Florida
i'm in North Central Florida. if FWC starts the season earlier, it will in return end earlier. you can bet they aren't extending hunting season, only shifting it.
