Default Elementary was needed to teach me History (again)

I got asked by myson's school capture a few memories for the school as the entire 1st grade was finishing up the end of their History projects. So memories for the school = memories for my family as well so I couldn't pass this one.

They begin the day with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Then they Honor the Texas Flag. Jackie Robinson doesn't seem to enthused

Then they even still pray (thank the lord)

Now it is time to take their seats, and they are served breakfast in the classroom to help give them a kick start.

After breakfast was done it was time to form up for the Parade.

Some kids even really took on their Historical Character and got into acting.

Once the students were dressed, they formed a huge parade and walked around the school for everyone to see. One thing I thought was neat was that the kids got to pick their own Historical Figure to do their project on. Seeing this kid pick Martin Luther King actually showed me how far we have come as a society deminishing racism.

The parade made their way into the cafeteria where all of their projects were on display. This guy decided he wanted to do a timeline on John F. Kennedy. Listening to a 1st grader school me on the Bay of Pigs Invasion, The Russian Missile Crisis, Sending troops into Vietnam..was definately eye opening.

At Windsor Park they even teach the 1st graders how to make their own Powerpoint presentations as well.

The Assistant Principal even attempted to put on somewhat of a costume and join in with Anne Frank.

Here are a few of the Historical Figures I got to learn about, a few of them I had never heard of at all

I had to litterally google this one, even after I talked to the young lady.

Laura Bush, Amelia Earhart, and Benjamin Franklin

I had to google this one as well...Ellen Ochoa

Anna Eleanor Roosevelt

Steven Speilberg

Best Costume Winner (atleast in my opinion)

Funniest Costume Winner (once again, in my opinion)

Coolest Costume Winner (IMHO)

Anytime with my rugrats is always time well spent, but today was definately an educational one for me as well. Even if it was from some 1st graders!!
