NC gets to hunt on Sunday now.

With a bow anyway.

Here are some interesting changes for this year.
1. The Northwestern area will be extended to Jan 1st. (We get to hunt til Jan 1st!!!!!!)
2. No daily bag limits on deer.
3. The elimination of the winter either-sex turkey season.
4. You can bow hunt on Sundays, on private land.
5. You can use a crossbow, without permit, when bow and arrows are legal weapons.
6. The elimination of fox hunting in Stokes County.

Way to go, North Carolina!!!

Now, hopefully the other states (i.e. Virginia, etc..) will soon follow suit.
Hey, it's a start. ;)

That's good news for NC, even it's limited to bow hunting on private land. Hopefully you guys get full hunting on Sundays within a short time.

Wouldn't it be nice if VA would follow NC lead.

VA will. Trust me... VA will.

Look back throughouthistory between NC and VA - all the way back to the colonial days. Study how similiar the two states operated:

VA did this, NC followed suit.
NC did this, VA followed suit.
VA this
NC that
NC this
VA that
etc...
etc...
etc...

VA guys: I think it's awesome that NC got bowhunting only on Sundays on private land. Believe me when I say - VA took serious notice of it and is watching it v--e--r--y carefully. Prediction: VA will have bowhunting only on private land on Sunday next year.

This is a start but I wish they would make it so you can use rifles and shotguns too.

I've heard for NC that they are supposed to be doing away with the bow and ml season and just starting all the seasons at once and letting you use anything you want. So you'd get a extra 4 weeks of gun season. Anyone else heard this? Is it true or just a rumor?

Another thing NC has I think we need is that you can shoot does all season there not just on certain days. I think VA needs that for sure with the over population of does. Va needs some upgrades to their laws.

NC looked into having one set of laws for the entire State, that's where the one season came in, but it hit quite a bit of opposition...

In the mid 70s, there were about 750 deer a year killed on our highways, now it's up to about 12,000...

Historically, we have had a 6 deer limit, 4 bucks in the East and 2 else where...We wanted this reduced to 2 bucks across the entire State but ran into protests from the dog hunters down east...

Two years ago the State started a program where you could get additional doe tags free...This year they have just given us unlimited does which can be taken all season...
