I will be bowhunting from the ground tomorrow...gonna find some large laydowns on the downwind side of a ridge to stop the wind from freezing me into a popsicle.

atleast they said the wind should die down. I went this afternoon and didn't see a thing. then after I got home and came inside, my wife comes home and said there were two bucks in the yard, one she said was atleast an 8 pointer. I saw earlier today where two white pines on the edge of my yard had been rubbed this week.

The best hunting weather all year long. Deer will be moving and bucks will use it to their advantage. Stay warm and shoot straight.

Saw some does and a buck. I stalk hunted because I left me climbing stand on Quantico and they had closed that particular area today. I put my face in the wind and stalked up to about 60 yards from a buck chasing some does up on a flat. I could smell the buck from 60 yards off, the stink from his rutting glands. They didn't see me but I just couldn't close the distance fast enough before they moved off that flat to god knows wherever. Was a good change of pace from sitting in a treestand for hour after hour. I can see myself as an older man one day using a long bow or recurve and stalk hunting....it is quite relaxing.
