South Carolina Deer

Where are most of yuns killing your deer on acorn trees, cut-overs, food plots, old road beds?
In lancaster we are killing ours on acorns and food plots and road beds in the pines.

I live in Indian Land (Lancaster County) but hunt South of Chester. Most have been taken near acorns. The acorns on our lease are huge this year! The nine point I got two weekends ago bedded down under a lone oak then got up and started eating. Last weekend a guy in my club got an eight point that was following a doe. I've seen two bucks with their necks swoll up so the rut is on. They are likely to be anywhere this weekend and with the cold nights this week, we should have a chance to get some good shots.

well...it mostly depends on the time of day!!
and as soon as the acorns stop falling exspect most of your deer to be hitting up the food plots you made!
You probably dont want to listen to a girl but I know what I am talking about!

Gender has nothing to do with the quality of your advice.

Saw a nice buck yesterday chasing a doe. 6 ptI killed wednesday was checking scrapes with a fork horn behind him. His tarsal glands didn't have any musk. But the 8 pt my brother killed that same morning did. Both of ours were shot about 60 yards inside the woodline from a large fescue field. They have a game trail that traces the perimeter of the field all the way around it. I was in some nasty briars but able to see part of field and game trail.

A girl that hunts and me not want to listen to her? What? Name? number? Address? LoL ;)

Its seems that we didn't get as many acorns this year down in Williamsburg county as you guys/gals in the upperstate and piedmont got. If the white oaks are dropping then they are your best bet. When they are done the deer will usually start moving around more to browse. Just find the thick stuff and you should find the deer.

Yeah thanks!

If the acorns are falling and you can find sign off the acorns then thats where you will find me hunting, but when those acorns are gone thats when the deer are going to start moving well and start getting into these feeders and food plots.
Thats when ole* big daddy is going to come out :))
