Missed Him HELP

ok I thought I had my shoot but for what ever reason I hit a branch and he left like a bat out out hell.

so I plan on try for him again next friday but will he use the same trail? there is now hunting pressure in the area right now just me once a week. this is the secind time I have seen this buck. first time (10 am going in he showed me were the deer have been going and that time I set up for him to come back out in the evening but didnt see him it might have been him behind me that made some noise and left but like I said It was behind and didnt get a look at anything.

this time I set up to see if he would be coming out and still have a chance if he was coming in. (9am)but he walks right up the ridge right at me and just keeps coming no time to stand up all I could was sit and turn to my left and hope he would clear all the low brush.he was 20 yards from me and didnt see me at all. I didnt even see the branch in the scope. the should haves, could haves and maybes are killing me. dam I screwed up.

on the way there I get pulled over state police 69 in 55 I was passing someone so he let me off. so now off to my other spot but I think my luck is all used up for today.

What did you shoot at the deer with? Too many unknowns.

RE: Missed Him HELP

horton crossbow 150 with single dot scope. carbon bolts with rage broadhead.

It was nothing to do with the equipment it was me I just didn't see that branch. I was for sure I hit him by the way he jumped up and took off, but when I got down and looked for blood there was none and no bolt. so i start looking around for blood looking back at the tree I was in and where he was and then I found my nock. still thinking I hit him I go back to looking for blood in the direction he went. no luck. so I come back to where I found my nock and sit on the ground a look back at my tree and that is when I see a branch that could have been in the way so I bend the tree down and there it is a nice fresh cut. with all that I did find my bolt with nothing on it and broadhead destroy.

I wasn't sure if it was a gun of some kind. If the deer didn't smell you he will probably resume his normal routine in a few days. They hear thigs all the time in the woods that spook them temporarily.
