RE: VIRGINIA RUT WATCH!
I had a small buck come by yesterday at about 5 pm. he came about 20-25 yards from me, I used the primos can and he never looked up, just kept walking with his nose on the ground. I swear that can is junk, I might as well leave it in the truck.

RE: VIRGINIA RUT WATCH!
I have found that the can works better on Doe's. Bucks never seem that interested in it.

RE: VIRGINIA RUT WATCH!
I'm not saying I called the date but;):D:
From July original:NEW61375 .........So then what happens? I think that as October progresses andyou finally reach the new moon on Oct 28 that the dark nights prior to(4 or 5 days), on the 28th, and after(4 or 5 days)that new moon cause a spike in melatonin output for the whitetail. That coupled with the factthose levelswereon a gradual rise due to shortened photoperiodincreases both estrogen and testosterone levels which in my opinion probably is the final trigger thatstartsmost does heat cycle (which lasts about 7 days) and causes bucks to become evenmore sexually aggressive. (IMO) Putting the actual breeding part of the rut about7 days later than the time frame ofOct 24-Nov. 5(chasing)which we already establishedis a few days before the new moon and a few days after.(So roughly Nov.1 -12 for the breeding) <<< Shocking I know.;) ......... |

RE: VIRGINIA RUT WATCH!
Missed a chance at a monster yesterday and saw two bucks this morning. Had a 3 pointer come by chasing a doe. He actually walked right under my treestand. Someone had shot him earlier this year because he had a nasty broadhead wound that was healing right below his spine. He came by at 0930. The 6 pointer came by at 1120. I wish I could hunt tomorrow but I can't due to work. I will be back at it Monday. Best of luck guys, I really hope one of you scores this weekend.

RE: VIRGINIA RUT WATCH!
On the way to work this morning (culpeper) I saw a buck trailing a doe across a field off of rt 15. Nice looking buck, rack high above head, nose to the ground about 15-20 yards behind the doe at a quick trot. I always see deer in this field, usually all does and fawns. Wish I could get permission to hunt it, not a tree in sight, but plenty of thick brush for a blind and due to the proximity to the highway it would be bow only. Good luck tomorrow guys.
