How's the season going VA Archers?
 

How's the season going thus far? I took a nice doe friday night and watched three other doe that were out of range. Saturday I watched two spikesfor about 30 minutes shove each other around 15 yards from my stand. It was a very intense time to say the least. Then they both took off like lighting andI heard a deer coming towards my stand. Low and behold a bigger spike came in and ran them off.:D When I saw it I about fell out of the stand laughing!

I've had a pretty good season so far. Harvested a perfect 18 inch/180lb 8 pt in Fairfax this past Thursday (story and picsin this forum under Big NOVA Buck Down). Harvested a doe in urban archery in the same piece of woods in Fairfax opening night of the Urban season. Gonna try to stick a few more does in the same piece as they are overrun with them. I'm actually excited because my hunting buddy and I havereceived sole permission to hunt two different farms in Fauqier County, the sign I saw onSunday was mind blowing. I think for the rest of the year I'm going to concentrate on the does and if another big boycomes into range well.......you know I've two more either sex tags;).

Havn't got a deer yet but have been seeing a lot of good sign in an area i hunt. I have a spot in Fauquier and Fairfax that I have yet to go to. Mostly hunting in Prince William.

ive taken a few does so far. passed on some small bucks in 1 area that i trophy hunt. all ive seen in my "meat' hunts are does.

I've seen alot of deer and a couple of young, though nice, bucks, however, haven't had any shot opportunities other than on yearlings. Hopefully next time though I'll be able to sling an arrow! :D

I have 2 does in VA(EAB) and one in MD. Seen plenty of small bucks and fawns.

Had a couple of hunts get ruined by disrespectful folks.

Missed an easy chip shot on a doe.... no one's fault but mine.

Been working a lot... seeing little... shooting nothing.

passed on some small bucks and does last fri, but that's the only deer I have had in range..not seeing a lot of deer at all.

Have seen 5 deer total. Had a shot at one but shot high and grazed it's back.

I saw plenty of doe and small bucks the first few days, but since the warm up and full moon I haven't seen as much in the daylight. I've had several hunts ruined by dogs so far. I love it , the man owns 1 acre, turns his dogs loose so they can run around on our 600 acres, a-hole.

I've been seeing a good amount of deer. This buck was the 5th buck I had seen that morning. I took him at about 11:15 on the 13th.

I've seenplenty of deer. Onlyoneoffered mea good, clean shot opportunity.Unfortunately, it was a small buck. I let it walk. I'll be back out this weekend.

Been seeing at least 12 does per outing and couple spikes and forks. Downed 4 does so far. All 4 were shot between 10a and 11a. I've hunted 5 mornings this season and havent seen a deer before 9am. Good luck all..

I've been out on consecutive Saturdays, and have seen quite a few deer. However, I have yet to let an arrow fly as of yet. Had a few chances but, Murphys law, mother nature and my own errors have gotten in the way of baggingmy first deer of the season. Plus the weather has been to hot in the NO VA area. I have only sat in stands that are better setups for BP and rifles. I didn't want touse my archery setups until the right time. The end of this week is lookingbetter for cooler weather. It looks like I'm heading in deep. Best of luck to everybody during this season.

yeah, those have been the biggest brown foxes I've ever seen running from the dogs

oh you have not hear PJ?? yeh it's a new breed ofr fox, it has a very large white tail and lays with the deer....can't help but jump them all ....:D[&:]

I haven't been seeing many deer so far. Maybe it's because there are so many of these critters running around my hunt club:

I shot it Wednesday evening at last light with the help of my 8 year old we some times call "Runs with Bear" and recovered it yesterday morning. This kid is an amazing bear magnet and in four years of taking him out we never fail to see a bear.

This will be my first week out back home here in VA. Been in wyoming freezing my butt off for the last two weeks, camping in 4ft of snow with lows around 5 degrees at night trying not to get eaten by grizzly bears. Looking forward to hunting this week/weekend.

I also had a hunt intruded by unwanted dogs[:@], but turned out it was the landowner next to me 2 labs(pets). but they were running 2 does, didnt run them but 2 or 3 minutes but just enough to ruin my afternoon. couldnt get mad though it was not on purpose
