HELP --- North Carolina Hunters

I' m planning on returning to your great state again this spring turkey season...I' ve hunted there many times and have a question about renewing deer tags. The last time I hunted there was 99-00 and we bought our licenses when we arrived..wife,son and myself...it used to be that the deer tags could be renewed in the summer to be valid next deer season, is it the same rule or has it changed ? Also, How' s the turkey population near Crooked Run, Hyco, Caswell game lands and also Thurmond ..if you had to pick one, which would it be ? Thanks in advance for all your help.. Frank

Frank,
Go to this website and check out the link in the middle of the page.
[link]http://www.ncwildlife.com/pg07_wildlifespeciescon/pg7b3.htm[/link]

It has the turkey distribution map for 2000.

Also, if you go to [link]http://www.ncwildlife.com[/link] and look around you will find last year' s harvest numbers by county and/or gameland.

Last year was my first time hunting turkey (or anything for that matter). I hunted the 3 Top Mountain gameland. I called in a hen my first day out, but didn' t see or hear anything after that. The terrain on the part of the gameland that I went is pretty rugged.

I didn' t get one last year, but had a blast. Hopefully I will get one this year.

Good luck this season!

-Mike
