Hogs in Va

I thought the only area of the state that had wild hogs was in eastern Va in the Dismal Swamp, but a frind of mine swears there are wild hogs in western va and even stated he saw them when growing up in the Ft Chisholm area. Is this true?

You probably mean Ft. Chiswell. I would not waste my time and energy trying to find them anywhere in VA because they are very scarce.

RE: Hogs in Va

I have talked to people who have killed them in Culpepper, Smithfield, and SurryCo. But they are really just isolated cases. Every circumstance I have heard of was due to escapies from a nearby hog farm. EVERY SINGLE ONE. There is always a fairly large (100+ head of hog) within five or so miles of where they are taken.
