Arizona Hunting Possibilities

I have a buddy who may be moving to the phoenix area and we were trying to figure out what we could hunt around there. I've heard bighorn sheep and elk. Anyone got any suggestions?

CIP161,
We have javelina, bear, buffalo, mountain lion, bighorn sheep, desert bighorn sheep,Coues deer (sub-species whitetail), turkey, squirrels, quail, pheasants (around Yuma), elk, mule deer, ducks, geese and rabbits. You can hunt with rifle, handgun, archery and muzzleloaders. All hunts are by draw except for archery deer, bear and mountain lion those are all over the counter. Hunting seasons start in early September and go into January. Here is the web site to the Arizona game and fish dept: www.azgfd.com

how hard is it to get a non-resident tag for something big like elk, mule deer, sheep?

To be honest it is hard and the state limits all out of state hunters to 10% of the tags. Not only is it hard to get drawn but it is pretty expensive, but that doesn't keep people from coming and hunting here. The Apps for Elk and Antelope are due in by Feb 12th at 7pm (they have to be here in the GFD office by 7pm on that date).
