I think their 3 point rule helps for them to get larger bucks too! It might be worth checking out.

Reb - Those pictures are nice. Make me want to go canoeing.

Hey You guys who have hunted Ruck Springs..got a few questions

1.Are the hunting trails open all year? I know many go there to snorkel in the crystal clear stream and canoe..

2. Is there a separate place for hunters ?

3. The roads that you drive on where you hunt...are they solid roads or sandy?

By the pics..it looks like a big hammock.
I appreciate the feedback..it looks simple to find..

Chuck,

I will try for a quota there (Rock Springs). If we get one, we can go check it out. Mallory is a little too far for me right now or next year. (-:

Cheers,
Chris

I don't know let's chat when it is time to put our names in. But I don't think we have a chance to get this area. I believe it is pretty popular and probuably goes in phase I.

I don't know..I put in for Kicco {River Ranch} and it's quota is 20..and I was drawn ..The trouble is Chris..we need to scout really good in advance..I didn't have a clue in Kicco.

well if it is any place like seminole forest across the street. you wont have to spend a whole bunch of time to scout, cause we went hunting over the weekend and found 2-3 really really good spots to hunt deer, but i dont know how the terrains is over there in rocks springs. (that is why i asked about it)

rock springs is mostly swamp and the skeeters are horrible. you have to walk or bike everywhere when scouting, no driving allowed except the day before the hunt. hunting is good once you figure the area out, expect several years of hunting it before you figure it out. it is ALOT different than seminole forest (which is right across the street). the rut is normally during the muzzle loader hunts (october). there is only 18 days of hunting (6 three day hunts)...2 three day bowhunts, 2 three day muzzle hunts and 2 three day general gun hunts. only 1 buck per permit allowed and the buck has to have atleast 3 points on one side. i believe there are around 125 permits given out for each 3 day hunt. hunters as far as miami and panama apply every year....it's a hard hunt to get.

any further questions about it, p.m. me...

Do you think Rock Springs is better than Seminole Forest?
