Chuck,
I am all about the oaks so C wins for me, but I am becoming a huge fan of seeing deer signs and especially rubs. Cheers, Chris |
RE: Poll question #2 ..Set ups..
HuntnMa and Rebel,
Why did you chose deep inside a bay head? Do you think the deer move there to avoid hunters? Is there a good food source inside the bay head? If so, what? What type of features do you want to see in the bay head or around the bay head? I don't feel confident with Bayheads, so I don't hunt them much and as such I have never seen a deer in a bayhead. Cheers, Chris |
RE: Poll question #2 ..Set ups..
actually i would prefer to be on the edge of the bay head, just inside but that wasnt an option, lol.... they use them as cover andtravels routes...bayheads, crypress heads are both excellent places to kill deer.....and hogs....squirrels too, lol....

Huntingma,
Thanks for your update. Hum, I had someone tell me a spot to hunt ata WMA that is exactly as you described. Maybe I need to go hunt it. Do you know what the squirels eat in the Cypress Heads? I am a newbie on this swamp hunting and not sure I like it (I like hunting uplands), but the closest WMA to me are both swamps. )-: So I need to learn. Cheers, Chris |
RE: Poll question #2 ..Set ups..
swamps and creeks are the best.....well the marshes are too, lol.....i don't know what the squirrels eat in the cypress trees , but i'm always good for getting 2-3 out of them....i didn't like hunting the swamps too much either in the beginning, but now that i have done it for a years, i feel like something is missing form my hunt....you'll get used to it too......;)

RE: Poll question #2 ..Set ups..
hunt where you find deer sign. i like to hunt transition lines (edge of bayheads, palmetto flats, ponds, etc.). don't just hunt over buck signs (scrapes and rubs), hunt over area's with lots of deer tracks like permanent designated trails that are used year after year.
