RE: Were didi they go in SC
This heat wave hurt the movement alot but also they are real gun shy by now. Our long hunting seasons and liberal limits put alot of pressure on the deer. Its going to cool off this weekend so that should help the movement alot. Good luck and be safe.

I have spoken to several of the guys at the club and they are seeing deer mid day between 10 and 2 crossing the roads . so they must be looking for food. i checked my hog stands today and they are getting hit right at dark.
im corning up and see what happens |
RE: Were didi they go in SC
Went up near Newberry Friday and had five stands on two different tracts of property covered all afternoon after the rain stopped and no one saw a single deer. Most of the stands were on pretty green food plots but nothing was hungry enough to show up before dark. They must be mostly nocturnal now.

Dec. 24 went to Cameron in Calhoun County for a hunt. 23 does and yearlings were seen with 4 going to the meat pole. Went back Dec. 26, no deer were seen. Go figure----?

RE: Were didi they go in SC
I went twice in December and killed 2 does, one at 10:30 am and the other at sunset. Took two youngsters on other occasions and saw 3 deer both times. The bucks seem to have been underground for a while though.

RE: Were didi they go in SC
Pulled the trigger on 12/1 at 3:10pm and dropped a large8pt in Denmark SC, passed on around 45 doe first half of the season. seemed like they were everywhere when the freezer was full, then all the sudden, it was done, my last 5 days at the hunt club (15 times in the stand, morning, mid day, afternoon) i only saw 2 SMALL does, guessing around 45-65lbs. needless to say, its a cold winter with not much meat in the freezer.

RE: Were didi they go in SC
