Well it is D-R-Y up here in north Florida. Our barrow pits that are usually full are dry to 30 feet down. The roads are dusty, our swamps are dry(mostly),ourrivers aren't flowing, and i would love to see a mudhole at this point. Send some rain our way!
Bryant, this the location of the Club I was in back in the 90's!It boarded San Pedro WMA.....

I know right where that is. I know a guy i went to college with who is in that club. Did they run deer dogs in there then? That area around san pedro WMA seems thicker and wetter woods compared to where i hunt down hwy 98. i have seen some good bucks come out of those woods though because theyhave time to grow, unlike the bucks i hunt. Most of the bucks we kill are 1-2 yr oldbucks and we wont ever kill anybigger bucks because you just cant hardly have quality deer managment anddeer dog hunting together. Both clubs down hwy 98 have a no spikes rule, and that is about as good as it gets i guess.

good looking buck! that was a heavybuck at 166 lbs.looks likehis back legs were taken out from under him.

i know i won't ever probably get a chance to kill a huge florida buck down where i hunt, but i love to hear the dogs run and i like the comeradarie of the people i run dogs with(Its more about the experience and the love of itto me).

Its not all about killing a big buckor alot of bucks, i do good enough during bow and muzzleloader seasons.

The main reason was thatabout 10 or 12 members lived in the vacinity and 4 lived across the road from the lease. It was 1,600acres leased from Proctor & Gamble. The membership was $500 a year and I paid an extra $125 a monthfor setting up the travel trailer on private property across the road from the lease. There were 70 members at the time I left.

Well, all the guys that livedclose and those that lived next to it would hunt it andrun the dogs every afternoon when they came from work, 7 days a week. Thetimes I would go it was a just a camping trip cause4 or 5 Deer were taken that week andI had to drive 7 hours round trip justto camp!:)The member that I was paying to park the travel trailer had an aunt that had a 20 acre Been Field off Rd 14 and it touched the lease at one point, but only 5 family members could hunt on it.[8D]The Deer I killedin the above pictures, I killed it closefrommy stand at the edge of the Been Field.:)Another thing that was a pain in the butt was, always had to go chase dogs that went into San Pedro.[:@]

I would go, 1 week for Muzzle Loading, first week of Generalhunting season,1 week for Thanksgiving,2 weeks for Christmas and New Years and I also went a few week-ends inbetween....

There was also talk about membership going to $600 and $50 fine for not making it onclean up day.

I totally understand, thats steep for that amount of hunting. I know right where you are talking about those campers are on 14. In 2000 i started going to community college in Madison so i drove right by them 3 days a week. I always wondered how good that hunting was around there, it is often an overlooked area.

Most of the Deer, Turkeys & Hogs came from San Pedro ( 55,000 acres). What I did notice was an awful amount of turkeys that came through the lease. Part of the Econfina came through the lease.San Pedro was $200 and no camping.:)
