BAMA

This is for the guys hunting Alabama. Is anybody having a decent year this year. So far around here buck sign is way up. Sightings however are very low. My neigbor killed a 4 point that he thought was a spike. A friend of ours killed a 135lb. doe that he was told would have won the big deer contest at the local feed and seed store that ended right before Christmas.

Things are really starting to try my patientce. One of the biggest bucks in the area has a scrape and rub in the front yard. He only visits at night. Gee wonder how he got so big. I have 2 does that bed down on the creek on my 5 acres that nothing short of a RPG would hit because of the saw-briars, wild muscidine, and all that other stuff we have to try hunt through.

So far this season has been a big zero. Anytime I have seen deer they have been spikes or it's past safe shooting hours. Acorns have also played in where we hunt, there still on the ground in some tight thick areas and the deer are staying close to this and not going out into the green fields.

Don't get too discouraged. The big boys always start falling the last 2 weeks of the season when that late rut really kicks up in Alabama. It wouldn't hurt to have some really cold weather, though. <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>

We have had a good year thus far, and we have passed up close to 100 young bucks trying to give them enough time to become wall hangers (Pike Co). I havn't hunted many days I couldn't have shot a deer.
