VaSavage270, I think Phelps is buck only except for one day this black powder season. You might want to check the regs before you go there. There are posters at the parking areas with info on them also.

Did not have any luck Saturday but took a doe this morning. Saw a total of 8 deer and one looked to be a decent buck but I never could get a good look at him. He was too busy running those doe around!

got 2 on saturday--1 doe and a 6 pt. missed a 8 pt too(before 6pt). got 2 does on monday. too tired to hunt on tues. went bow hunting this morning in fairfax--no deer seen. im only shooting a nice buck this week. got 10 so far and dont need anymore meat(for this week anyway). ive got 2 many places to hunt and not enouigh time to hunt them all (properly). my club in fauquier(that i have yet to hunt at this year) is calling me. they took a 12 and a 8 pt on saturday(both over 200lbs and both took by guest). bear season is open for 4 days next week and i will be there. back to fiarfax this afternoon and madison coutny on thursday. im off worktill after thanksgiving. i still need to take at least 4 more does on a loudoun cty farm to keepmy hunting rights for next year. they hate the deer there. i did manage to get a decent 9pt there during bow season. grunted him in from 175 yards away on on of those magical calm mornings we had last week. my best hunt of the year so far.

This was my first year blackpowder hunting. I had bought a cheap Traditions Pursuit from Dicks Sporting Goods earlier this year, but have been impressed about how it shot. I hunting Sat, Mon, and Tues and got a deer each day. A doe on Sat, 7 pointer on Monday and a button buck on Tues. Definitely has made me a believer in muzzleloader season.

O2be,

It appears your having a great season, too many places to hunt and not enough time. I have enough time, just not the places to hunt I hope to be fortunate enough to harvest three deer this year.

Finally scored this year today. I took a big fat nanny doe this morning that had a little 4 pointer trailer her. Glad to get the monkey off my back. What a great morning to hunt too, nice crisp clear morning with no wind!

The big boys have been moving the last week or so. We've seen 2 real big 8s and a monster 10 on our farm in NOVA and a huge 10 and a real big 12 in Clifton so far (bow only). This should be another good week to hunt, hopefully the temps don't hit near 70 like they're calling for.
