I haven’t posted in a long time, I've been busy training a couple of tracking dogs. Go to my new web site and tell me what you think of it. Be sure to check out the Stories, Photos & Videos section and come along with me and my son on a couple of tracks.

I can use ya'lls help in passing this site on to any dog handlers that might want to post their services. There is no charge, I just want a place where hunters can find a handler near them.

tracking dogs are awesome. I live in Texas and I am really interested about getting into tracking deer. Can you tell me were I can find out more about this?

You can go to my site's links page. Click on the Deer Search icon for some really good info on dogs, training, and tracking in general. If your interested in WH Dachshunds there are a few links about them there too.

Several years ago on an adjacent lease a guy shot a good buck and came over to see if we would help out. Myself and a couple of other guys went out to the pens (we were dog hunting then) and grabbed a big redtick to track the deer. My buddy put a lease on that crazy dog and it was off to the races. A lot of the area was cutover land full of briars and vines. The dog weighed about 90 pounds and by the time we got back to the truck he looked like he had been sorting wildcats. The small dog definitely makes sense.

timbercruiser, it amazes me what deer will go through when wounded. That is where a 30' lead comes in real handy, just hand off the lead to someone else and go around the brush and catch it on the other side. Even at that there were a couple of times I had to belly craw through the brush and my Dachshund went through with ease.
