North Florida Rut?

Just curious, when does the rut usually kick off in North and Central Florida. I'm used to late October into early November up north. This is my first season hunting down here so any info would help a ton.

Around Gilchrist, and Alachua county the rut is usually around the last week of bow season or the first week of muzzleloader. Or mid to late October.

I don't know about you all, but I've seen fawns all throughout the year. I hunt mainly in Jefferson County, but also a little in Leon and Wakulla Counties. While I've never actually witnessed a buck trailing a hot doe, I have seen young fawns at all times of the year. There may be a certain time of year when breeding peaks, but I believe with the warm weather, florida deer breed all year long. When our bow season starts on September 22, I plan on using a double scent drag with hot doe and buck scent applied. I'll let ya know how it goes.

I shot a doe a few years back that was about a week away from having a little one--And that was in Oct.about 20/21--She came in about dark didn't know she was that way till I went too her!!!

That means she got bred some where about
end of March or first of April--About 200 days for gestation period!!
