I walked out to tripod feeder to check out if the wind from thunderstorm turned it over..Yes..Finally we got some rain!:)Came back in the house and was loaded with deer ticks...They sure are bad this year..What are people using this year for repellant that want spook game?? Chiggers too??

They seem normal down here in SC. Not anymore than usual.

I tuck my pants legs into my boots and check myself VERY good when I get home.

From my exp. a tick is going to bite you places that you don't want to spray that stuff on anyways.

Permethrin....kills the little buggers on your clothing before they even get to the skin. No smell either.

I agree, permethrin. takes care of them before they have a chance to bite you.

Just remember that when you spray the stuff on your clothes that you're not wearing them. Permethrin is a neurotoxin and can cause severe problems if it contacts the skin in sufficient amounts:
- Irritation of skin and eyes.
- Irritability to sound or touch, abnormal facial sensation, sensation of prickling, tingling or creeping on skin, numbness.
- Headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive salivation, fatigue.
- In severe cases: fluid in the lungs and muscle twitching may develop. Seizures may occur and are more common with more toxic cyano-pyrethroids.

If you have cats, keep it away from them--it will kill them.

Spray it on your clothes outside and let them dry. Once dry, Permethrin is inert but it will still kill the ticks, mosquitos, etc. Permethrin will also last through one or two clothes washing cycles before you have to re-apply it.

i normally grin and bear it. i hate putting on any repellent due to the extra smells (even though they claim "scentless"). i got a bad case of red bugs on my last outting. thank goodness for clear fingernail polish.

Good info from 59Hunter ... I agree but lets not make it out to be like a skull and crossbones toxicant because it isn't.

Just don't use it like your favorite cologne and spray it all over yourself. Just spray the clothes while they're hanging up...just spray the exterior of the clothes.

I agree on the permethrin. You can get it at Dick's in the camping section. It's made by Sawyer's. Once you treat your clothes it's good for up to 6 weeks or until you wash your duds. Works like a charm!!
