Questions for Florida WMA hunters...
 

Certainly I won't be foolish enough to ask where you hunt at.;)that is stupid..but I would like ot pick your brains with some general questions..
if you don't mind..

1. Do you use calls and have you had success with them..or do you think they actually scare the game away?

2. What time of the day do you see the most game.?

3. How long do you stay in your stand?

4. On the average..how far do you hunt off the main roads?

I've had success as far as bucks answering a grunt..{twice}but never called one in on a grunt.I called a spike in once on the 'can 'and killed it..BUT mostly I think I scare them away..I'll use them very scarely this year.
2. What time of the day do you see the most game.?
I hear game alot before daylight but actually seeing the ...mostly walking back to the car around 10-11 AM

3. How long do you stay in your stand? I hate sitting in a stand..I do good to make it to 10:00 AM I've gone all day a few times and it drives me nuts. I usually get there around 5:25.

4. On the average..how far do you hunt off the main roads?
From1 to 2 miles..I don't see other hunters..Last year I saw zero hunters. Although I struck out last year..I saw more game than ever...from my stand..

(1.) Depends....No hunter movement, daybreak until 11:00 AM& 4:00 PMuntil Dusk

(2.) A lot of hunter movement, daybreak until Dusk..

Approximately 1/4 mile if not much huntermovement & 1/2 mile if to much hunter movement...

-- never used calls before, am planning on trying this year

--actually the mid day hours ... usually see more when not on stand though... driving in before light or walking out

3. How long do you stay in your stand?
--as long as possible before heading offto work I get down between10and 2 after getting inwell beforedawn

4. On the average..how far do you hunt off the main roads?
--1/2 to 2 miles ... deep enough to never see anyone else except those by the road when I walk out

I have no luck with calls stay in stand dawn till 2pm lot of movement most of my kills bettween 0900&1300

1/2 of my deer have been killed in the afternoon as well.

Yep...had success.. mostly smaller bucks...spikes

2. What time of the day do you see the most game.?
morning and evening...and sometime in the middle of the day
when eveyone else is moving out for lunch

3. How long do you stay in your stand?
Beginning of season all day

4. On the average..how far do you hunt off the main roads?
I hunt where ever i find sign...

But I hunt private land most of the time..

15 mins before dark

3. How long do you stay in your stand?
630-930am & 430-dark

4. On the average..how far do you hunt off the main roads?

The last year I hunted on a WMA I saw deer almost everytime I climbed, Mostly small bucks & does. I found a persimmon tree dropping fruit that was 70 yds off the main road in a swamp. I could see trucks as they rode by, and neverhardly saw a deer30 mins before dark(Huntedeveryday after work,hardly ever hunted there in the morning). It was a 'honeyhole' as long as I could keep trucks from riding up & down the roads. I got sick of public land bowhunting so now I bowhunt in my deer-dog club.PM me and i will tell you the WMA and where I was at if you are interested.
