Yellow River - Grassy Point WMA in Florida

Guys,
I got a archery permit (1 out of ten) to hunt the first week in Yellow River - Grassy Point WMA -SW of Florida but have no idea how good that area is hog and deer-wise. If any of you ever hunted in that area, please give me some inputs.
Thanks

Have you tried looking it up on goggle earth to get an idea of what it looks like? That might help a little. I know nothing of this place. I see it's off I-10. How far from 75?

it is about 280 miles from I-10/I-75. I live in Tallahassee so it takes at least 2 hours to get there. Google map does not help much.

The terrain is flat, with lots of scrub oak and pines. It is swampy, loaded with deer, hogs and bear- just across river from Eglin AFB- LOADED with game!

Beulahboy,
According to the map, it is on the side of Eglin AFB. Do you know how to get there by car? I checked google map and see Grassy Point Rd. You mentioned it is swampy? Do I need a boat to get there or I could just walk with rubber boots?
Thanks

Hi beulahboy,
Thank you very much. I got a permit to hunt in Grassy Point (shaded area in the map) and I amdesperate to find out ways to get there. I guess I have to drive through Eglin AFB which I dont know if they allow me to do so since I am a foreigner. Btw I live in Tallahassee.

when you come towards yellow river exit just before Milton on hwy 87 and follow it south across the river to the roads on Eglin that show allow you walking access. Also I don't hunt Eglin but I've always heard you have to go to a particular guard station and watch a movie on how to identify garbage from bombs, which you may need.

Grassy Point Access

As you have already learned, go south 87 (exit 31 on I-10) and you will come to a road - Range Road 213. This road is on the west side of the Egli property, but I am sure that you do not need a permit to use this road to access Grassy Point. However, call this phone number 850-882-4165 (Natural Resources Office - Jackson Guard
This is the information number and Jackson Guard is where you go to get a permit. Just one thing to remember, do not go off of this road going in or you may wind up in a restricted area, although they are good with signage. Good luck.
I hunt Eglin just on the other side of 87. Beware of snakes and bears.:patriot:
