ORIGINAL: travis_E so this is not like public land anyone can hunt on? Im new to all this Im from WV and had property to hunt on that and public land which anyone could hunt on. what do I got to do to get to hunt on one of these WMAs? I really need somewhere to hunt this year I mainly bow hunt some are part quota/part first come , first served.....like bullcreek....the first 9 days of each hunt, archery, muzzleloader and gun are set aside for the quota hunts...then on the 10th day, it's open to whoever gets there first....... you can bow hunt during the general gun hunts, but you'd have alot of competition with the gun hunters....so i would advise bow hunt only during archery season.....imo.... i would look into grn. swamp.....see what the rules/regs are for this year.....and go from there... |

so this is not like public land anyone can hunt on? Yes it is my friend..The first 9 days of firearm is reserved for those who have a special quota..I've got one for the efirst 4 day. You can start hunting on Nov., 19th with firearm, Archery is Fri, Sat, and Sunday only .First day is Sept. 22nd and it ends Oct. 21sy..anyone with a WMA and hunting license can drive right onin and hunt, They open the gate around 5:00AM .The Green Swamp is about 58,000 acres. During archery this yesr..there is no early quota hunt. The day before is opened ot scouting..Just drive on up and hunt.Im new to all this Im from WV and had property to hunt on that and public land which anyone could hunt on. what do I got to do to get to hunt on one of these WMAs? I really need somewhere to hunt this year I mainly bow hunt
You need to go to a Walmart and purchase a Wildlife Management stamp..23.00 and a Florida Huntin license. about 17.00 They can also b epurchased on line. I go to Walmart..Teh archery stamp is 5.00 ..Turkey is 5.00 and Black Powder is 5.00 You can than hunt MOST anywhere in Florida. I'll be straight with ya...scoring a deer in our central Florida WMA sis very tough..You will see plenty of signs but the game is generally noctural. Most hunters will not show you there spots. We have worked very hard...and still working. We do have poinsoness snakes here so please where appropriate foot gear. Also...lock your climber up ..they can walk away. |
RE: Florida WMA
Babcock is just south of Sarasota about 100 miles
No permit no hunt might as well be private land. Actually they just sold it now it is private land !!!!!!!!! |
RE: Florida WMA
You have to have hunting permit for WMA. Plus archery stamp. All that I've been to don't ask to them but if a ranger gets you in the field he may want to see them. I don't think they are any different from public land. As long as you have a hunting permit you can use any of them.
