Tampa, FL bow shop need recommendation

Hello,

I have a bow that needs a new string and a tune up. Does anyone have a bow shop in Tampa Bay they recommend. I live in Land O lakes, but don't mind driving for a good shop.

Thanks,
Chris

YES !!
In Brandon .It's called the Arrowhead. The man is quiet, non pushy, a pro and very reasonable. He's on highway 92.

I went there with the wrong rest on. He put his best rest on, tuned it up, and watched me shoot 2 arrows. The entire price..20.00. You'll love looking at his tons of trophies . It's a real nice place.

Chuck, there's aTavern next to Arrowhead and then a housewith a Welding Shop. There is were my wife lived for 12yrs untill we got married, 1956-1968.They moved there from NC. My father-in law had the welding shop there. We sold it in 2003 when my mother-in-law died.

Hey, without a doubt I would say Arrowhead Archery. The staff is top notch and always willingto help you with advice and a great selction ofequipment. I think there is still a shop over inTarpon Springscalled Britton Archery, but the last time I was there had a bad experience. Bought a new mathews XTfrom him andhe said he would set it up for me for no extra charge.Bought the bow from him strictly because of price. He thentell me that he only sets bows up with a whisker rest and the same sights he had in his shop.I did not want the same setup that he had so I had to go to Arrowhead to finish the job that Brittonsshould have done.He also had terrible hours at his shop. Would not go back to Brittons.

This was my experience ....My tear drops that hold my bow string were crooked. I called a shop in Bartow and he said I diffently would need new cables ..60.00.

I wanted a second opinion.I drove to the arrowhead...here is wha the said.
" There is nothing wrong wiht your cables.. IT is normal for them to turn some...I do see though that your rest is the wrong rest for your bow and it's upside down." I was embarassed. [&:]Money was no problem andI ask him to put on his best rest. My bow is very old.He didn't try to sell me a new one ,Fact..he said nothing. He immediately put on a rest, string loop .watched me shoot .I was amazed at how my groups were now.

Price ..exactly 20.00 for parts and labor. I love the Arrowhead.

PS I ask him if he thought I needed to buy a new bow. He said, "No..yours is just fine." That impressed me most.

PS For some of you who may be wondering about the first rest. I had bought a rest from Walmart for an off set bow window. Mine is a standard window. ..I kept messin gwith it till I could use it. It was my first year in archery.:(I had shot with some other fellows and they said something was diffently wrong but could not fugure it out. The guy at the Arrowhead figured it out in 1 second.LOL

Here is the correct rest for my standard window thatthe Arrowhead put on..my groups went from plateto coffee mug or better.

Well,

I just wanted to say I had great refereals for Brittons and the Arrow Head. I ended up going to Brittons. I thought I needed a new string. But they looked at my bow and said it was fine and to just start shooting it. I was impressed with they could have sold me something I did not need.

I have been shooting, but I need lots more practise before my groups get to where they were 10 years ago. (-: But it is coming along and they are getting better.

Cheers,
Chris

Amen ..me too.

I was new at archery last year. I was given an old Darden bow. EVERYONE said, "You need to get a new bow."

I new the man the arrowhead was going to say that as well. Instead he said,"I don't see anything wrong with that bow you got, it can certainly kill a deer or bear." After tha tremark..he earned himself a customer. I will go there with any archery needs I have. He is very skillful asnd not a rip off. I'm glad you fared well as well.
