OK here'sthe story.
Sat the 18th was opening day for Va gun. I was bummed because my wife was in Europe and I had to babysit. Since I couldn't go to the farm we paid lots of money to rent for the year, I had no option but to hunt close to the house. I've had does in the garden everyday but didn't shoot because my wife thinks there pretty. I've seen 8 different bucks since mid October.
Saturday AM I get up and decide to go out and sit and see what happens.
Before daylite a doe comes in and starts to feed. At7:05 a young 8 pt comes in about 20 yds to my right. I have to turn around to get him lined up and need him to walk about 10 more yds for a clean shot. At 7:10All of a sudden he starts to shaking and lays down as he looks towards, but not right at me. I was confidant he didn't see me but he saw something he didn't like. I thought he saw my neighbors dog and turned to look and this guy was standing at 5 yds. I froze and this one kept walking towards the doe in the garden. At about 12 yds I drew and whistled and he stopped and looked at the 8 pt.
I hit him through the lungs and he went about 10 yds and stopped and stood there. Starting to wobble he walked about 5 more yds to the edge of the garden and collapsed. he actually got up a couple times but couldn't get it together.

BTW I had him green scored today
