Seems like it's pre-rut, gittin close to the full rut. I've been seeing bucks and doeswhere I normally wouldn't. Change in patterns....Should be gittin going, full-steam pretty soon.

No really, it's is scheduled to start at 1317 on the 8th of Nov, providing it doesn't rain. If so, it will be re-scheduled for 0345 on the 10th.

Stokes County----I'd say the rut is getting into swing here and by the middle of next week will be in full. Tons of scrapes, bucks chasing does, and swelled necks here now.

They have been in rut here for about two weeks. Seen more smaller bucks than usual. And more does than last couple of years

Things are starting to pick up in NC. The next couple of weeks will be prime. Fetus harvest from late season does show a lot of breeding in and around the second week of November.

I got this 8 pointer on Tuesday morning at 8:10 AM, Nov. 7th with my black powder rifle. His neck was swelled pretty good but not full yet and his hocks were dark and smelled strongly. I saw a 6 pointer this morning, opener of gun season, that I let pass and he had his nose to the ground looking and searching. I'm in the center of NC. Just though I'd pass on the info.

I hunt in Wake county and further south in Bladen county and have seen some mild chasing by smaller bucks. I have also had bucks follow my drag rag trail and scent dispenser trails but they were also small. No luck so far with calls. The next two weeks should show much more activity

You should be fine. Atleast where I hunt bucks are still in full chase mode at Thanksgiving. I don't know if the peak is starting to wind down then but it is still going on. The day before Thanksgiving has always been a great day for me. One year, I shot a buck that was chasing a doe.
Of course with this crazy weather I don't know what this year will bring. At one spot they started rubbing trees and making scrapes earlier than normal, but then we just had that warm spell.

Best of luck to you!!
