Question for Virginia Hunters

Hello i live in Tn and am wanting to hunt some this season on my grandparents farm in sw va. And i was wondering what kinda laws are on that. I know i dont half to have a license since it is family and i am a out of state resident. But if i kill a deer or a turkey what has to be done as far as checking in since i dont have a license in VA. Just need some info on what im looking at. Thanks.

Check out the Game & Inland Fisheries site. You will find all the info you need:

http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/

Better yet.....

Here's the license fees section: http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/hunting/regulations/licensefees.asp
Here's info on tags and checking game: http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/hunting/regulations/validation.asp

Oh, and Virginia has the stupid, archaic, law where you can't hunt on Sunday... [:@]

so i guess you just take your game and check it in even if you dont have a tag and license. Thats kinda odd. Or do you half to check them in i didnt see anything about non residents in the add they had.

RE: Question for Virginia Hunters

Resident or non-resident landowners, their spouses, their children and grandchildren and the spouses of such children and grandchildren, or the landowner's parents, resident or non-resident, do not need a license to hunt, trap or fish within the boundaries of their own lands and inland waters.
[*]All hunters killing a bear, deer, or turkey, unless the hunter is license exempt, are required to validate an appropriate tag on their bear-deer-turkey license (big game license), bonus deer permit, or special permit (DCAP, DMAP) at the place of kill prior to moving the animal in any way. To validate a tag, successful hunters must completely remove the designated notch area from the appropriate license or permit tag. (See below.)
