When deer eat acorns
Have you ever heard/seen one eating acorns?
Are they loud like maybe a beaver pulling or biting off bark? Hollow headed sound? What is it? Compare it please |
RE: When deer eat acorns
A deer, being a ruminant, chews its cud. Usually they swallow the acorns whole and chew them up later, usually as they lay in their bed.

RE: When deer eat acorns
Well what else could it be?
Loud hollow headed crunch. I was in a stand in a bunch hard woods just off a grouping/intersecting of trails. Pretty sweet. As it got later I started to here crunching sounds coming from behind me. Just as figured where one might come from. It sounded like somebody eating ice or carrots with their mouth open. Stop and start, stop and start' crunch, crunch, but no moving sounds, limbs breaking, steps just not another sound. Just crunching. Wierd! What ever it was, it was loud. Just as I was coming down, it jumped ran about 20' stopped. I waited about 15-20 min started to move again. Then off it ran boom bam tearing mess up I'm telling you tearing up some woods getting out. Never stomped, blew or wheezed just up and gone. Dag, knew it was a nice boy never got to see it just here it tearing it up. What was it? The sound. Unusual to here. I'm not sure. FirstBow |
