Most of my hunting is in a large swamp..the Green Swamp of central Florida.

1.First of all find the place where you think the deer or hogs will be.
2. I then use trail tacks to guide me to my stand. I tack out the driest trail possible. Gators and snakes are very active during bow season.
3. My stand is dead in the center of muck and thick stuff...yet my trail tacks guide me 90% through decent terrain. Only the last part I don't think any hunter could find.My trail is nearly all dry except for the maybe 20 yards.

Well, don't know where you're from, but in the deep south you have to watch for Gators and Moccasins all the time.

Thanks for the resonpses. I think I'll very carefully slog my way thru the swamp. I'll be hunting between Juptier and the big Lake for bow season. I was thinking about getting a canoe for the deeper water and getting to interior hammocks.
Thanks again and good hunting. I hope to bag my first Whitetail this season. I'll take pictures.

good luck......if you think a canoe is the best way, go for it, i knw a few guys that get to thier hunting areas by canoes......if the water is more than 3 feet i would think about it....

ALso....if you check out the Google map it can help you. There may be trails close by you didn't even know were there. I was going through nasty stuff last year until I found a much better way. We haven't had a lot of rain so water may not be an issue this year. Take some bug spray. They are worse than the snakes and gators.
