Hawgnman-

Man, I wish you guys were closer. I would definately get in on that deal. I have family land to hunt back east on the weekends that I have off so I am mainly looking for something close by the hospital so I can slip into the woods after work before sundown.

Those are some nice looking birds you guys have been taking. Turkey season is out for only a month and I am already planning next years hunt.
I am going to stretch out next year and hit GA, then SC, then NC and hopefully KS. I am just going to follow the season dates to maximize my hunt time.
Let me know if you change your mind. I've got 4 openings for 2006-2007.

I live in Pitt County. Use to live in Chatham.
Still have mongo land there if you want to hunt a few times.
As far as the Jordan area. To to much pressure for me! Had a few shot in that area ( Jordan Lake area) and I aint talking deer!
Chatham is about 45 minutes from C.H.
About 1 hr 30 minutes to Pitt.

Hey FirstBow

That is pretty scary about JL. Me thinks I will just scout out some farm land nearby and try to get permission, or see if I can get a reasonble lease.

Forgive my ignorance please, but what is mongo land?[8D]

I lived in Durham for 4 years while I was at Duke. I had a lot of success just knocking on farmers doors. I usually went with the bowhunting approach, just b/c it sounds safer for the famers and thier families. I also donated a few days a year to help out around the farm and usually some venison. There are many ways to go about asking for permission. This is what was successful for me.

I wrote a unique letter and had it printed on color paper then drove around and dropped it in mailboxes. I told them I would be back onX day to speak w/ them in person. If they were NOT interested,I asked them to email/call me with thier address. Only one did. When I went back, I dressed nice.Khaki pants, polo shirt, knocked on the door. In two days work I ended up w/ about 750 acres spread over a couple farms. You might have to drive a little out of town to find some of the larger farms, but I think you'll be surprised.

Hint...look for soybeans...these are the farmers that were most interested.

Thanks GaHunter19

That sounds like good advice, and I plan to put it into practice.
