I did hunt Phelps WMA in VA. Flushed 2 birds one day, another daysome kids running beagles for rabbits said they flushed some birds.Didn't expect to see any birds, but it's close to my home and good place to work out the dogs. [/align]

Rick,

Amazing that you flushed some quail at the Phelps. Good on ya, man! It's only an hour or so from where I live.

It was a suprise, I have to give the DGIF credit for the way they manage the land at Phelps & Thompson WMA. They probably recieve more hunting presure than any other public land in the state. After deer seasonyou can have the place to yourself mon-fri.They do run some field trials at Phelps and there is a section of land that is managed as Quail habitat.

I know of a farm in Nokesville where there are 2 covey of wild quail. I deer/rabbit hunt there w/ my beagles, and flush them sometimes. Always wanted to pop a few, but the landowners said no. I'm sure they'd never know, but that's not my style...

I set up quail habitat for a farm in Ameilia, VA he already had a few wild coveyson the place I heard alot of quail calling that summer aroundthe field trial grounds andcamp grounds were they have the blue grass festival.
I belong to a club that's in Nottoway Co., just south of Ameilia. Noticed at least 2-3 coveys during BP season. Didn't have time to go back after deer season was out. Hopefully they will still be there next year.
